Summary
Describes the experience in deriving design comfort criteria for in Country Club Hotels Group. The initiative was instigated as a reaction to hotel customer comments of dissatisfaction on environments which conformed to recognised standards. Notes recommendations made on the selection, control, and operation of mechanical thermal systems and in some cases their complete removal. In addition, derives a set of specific design criteria for the range of facilities found in a large hotel and a guide to factors influencing thermal comfort, so that hotel managers and engineers could provide a more effective reaction to customer complaints.
