Compressor sequencing and control for efficient operation.
Type of article: Article
Summary
In order to enhance reliability and to meet aggregate loads, industrial refrigeration systems are always equipped with multiple compressors. In a system with multiple compressors, it is a challenge to determine compressor operating sequences that not only meet loads but maintain efficient operation. In this edition of The Cold Front , the authors discuss part-load efficiency characteristics for both screw and reciprocating compressors and provide recommendations on strategies to sequence and control compressors for efficient system operation.
