Summary

ONE OF THE MOST COMMON ERRORS MADE WHEN DESIGNING A HVAC PLANT IS THE LITTLE ATTENTION THAT IS GIVEN TO THE DIMENSIONING AND SELECTION OF CONTROL DAMPERS. THIS ERROR LEADS TO INADEQUATE CONTROL OF THE AIR SUPPLY AND CAUSES PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS IN THE MIXING CHAMBER, IN TURN CAUSING CHANGES IN THE OVERALL AIR DELIVERY RATE OF THE FAN. IN ORDER TO COPE WITH THIS ERROR IT IS NECESSARY TO CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCE OF PERFORMANCE OF CONTROL DAMPERS WITH PARALLEL FLAPS AS COMPARED TO THOSE WITH OPPOSING FLAPS.
