Type of article: Article
Summary
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has become a governmental issue in France. The various types of pollutants in the indoor air can cause various ailments that are mild (olfactory discomfort) or much more serious (asthma, cancer). A better IAQ becomes a major health and comfort improving factor, and can even improve the productivity of the building's occupants. Its socio-economic impact does not seem negligible even if studies do not precisely quantify it. The various strategies developed in order to improve the IAQ encompass dilution of the pollutants, control of their sources and their filtration. Optimization of these various strategies can also be linked to energy savings inside the building.
