Author(s) : ROMINE T. B. Jr

Type of article: Article

Summary

An explanation of the work of the ASHRAE Technical Committees in the preparation and up-dating of the Handbooks. The example used is the development of cooling load calculations (Chap. 26 of Fundamentals) over the last 50 years. Complex methods were evolved before the general use of desk computers, and had to be simplified for manual calculation. Alternative methods are now published, to cover a wide range of uses and users.
