COOLING LOAD CALCULATION FROM SOLAR RADIATION THROUGH A WINDOW CONSIDERING < SHADOW HISTORY >.

Summary

THE EXACT CALCULATION OF COOLING LOAD INFLUENCES DIRECTLY THE QUANTITY OF AIR NECESSARY FOR AN AIR CONDITIONED ROOM, AS WELL AS AIR QUALITY AND HUMAN COMFORT. IN MOST CASES, IN ORDER TO CALCULATE THE COOLING LOAD FROM SOLAR RADIATION THROUGH A WINDOW PANE, HEAT STORAGE INTO THE BUILDING STRUCTURE HAS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. BECAUSE OF THE STORAGE EFFECT, VARIABLE SHADOW HAS TO BE CONSIDERED DURING A LONG ENOUGH PERIOD BEFORE DETERMINING THE PERIOD OF THE DAY FOR WHICH COOLING LOAD SHOULD BE CALCULATED. THE PAPER DESCRIBES A NEW METHOD OF CALCULATION AND PRESENTS THE NUMERICAL DATA USED FOR SUCH A CALCULATION FOR LOCATIONS AT 50 DEG NORTH LATITUDE.
