Cost benefits and performance of insulation levels in commercial building.
Author(s) : PUPILLI S.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Added insulation to a new building fabric will save both capital and running costs for cooling and heating. This will vary with climate. A computer prediction can show expected savings for variations in these parameters. It is generally assumed that there is a decreasing return for better insulation, but a study for 5 Australian cities demonstrated that high standards of insulation can be justified, and the reduction in plant costs can exceed the cost of the insulation. The program will show where the best savings can be made. A.R.T.
