CYCLE ANALYSIS FOR STIRLING REFRIGERATOR WITH MULTIPLE EXPANSION STAGES, PERFECT REGENERATION AND ISOTHERMAL PROCESSES.

Author(s) : WALKER G.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

IN THE PAPER A THERMODYNAMIC CYCLE ANALYSIS IS PRESENTED OF A STIRLING CRYOCOOLER WITH MULTIPLE EXPANSION STAGES. THE ANALYSIS IS HIGHLY IDEALIZED, INCLUDING THE ASSUMPTION OF ISOTHERMAL COMPRESSION AND EXPANSION PROCESSES AND PERFECT REGENERATION. THE ANALYSIS FOLLOWS THE FORM OF THE SCHMIDT ANALYSIS FOR STIRLING ENGINES AND REFRIGERATORS, MODIFIED TO INCLUDE MULTIPLE EXPANSION STAGES. EXPRESSIONS ARE DERIVED FOR THE REFRIGERATION EFFECT GENERATED IN THE VARIOUS STAGES AND POWER CONSUMPTION REQUIRED, AND EXPRESSIONS ARE DERIVED FOR THE RATES OF MASS FLOW.
