Summary

A large volume cryostat has been designed for the testing of modified D-shaped toroidal field coils of steady-state superconducting tokamak SST-1. The cryostat will house two toroidal field coils along with their support structure and current leads. The same cryostat will later be modified to house 10 pairs of vapour-9cooled current leads for the superconducting magnet of SST-1 tokamak. The design and salient features of the cryostat are described.
