Summary
In heat exchanger network development, important features such as pressure drop and fouling effects are usually neglected. In this work, a new methodology is proposed in order to include these effects in grassroots as in retrofit designs. Heat exchangers are designed during the heat exchanger network development. Pinch analysis is used to obtain a heat exchanger network with maximum energy recovery, and a new systematic procedure is proposed for identification and loop breaking.
