Summary
States that for historical reasons the cooling load calculation according to VDI 2078 assumes that only air cooling (exclusively convectively effective) is used to meet the cooling load. Accordingly, the room air temperature is generally chosen as the reference temperature. Argues that the spread of space cooling systems with a significant radiant proportion (i.e. cooling ceilings) makes it necessary to investigate the effect of the space cooling system and the reference temperature on the sensible cooling load. Describes and discusses details of the cooling load calculation taking account of both radiative and convective cooling.
