Summary

The precision gamma spectrometer instrument included in the scientific payload of the project MAPC-96 was intended for investigation of gamma radiation during a voyage to Mars and in orbit around the planet. Temperatures of the spectrometer detectors in an operational mode should not exceed 120 K. This can be achieved in various configurations by coupling each of the germanium detectors with a radiator by means of two cryogenic heat pipe diodes.
