Digital control system for extreme low energy apartments.

Summary

A pilot project Urban Villa has been realized in Amstelveen. This pilot project concerns the development of a building of 42 luxurious apartments, of which 16 will have an extreme low energy consumption without neglecting the comfort of living. This is achieved by using balanced ventilation with heat recovery, optimal use of solar energy to pre heat the hot water and indoor air, effective cooling with controllable sunshades and natural ventilation and Spiro tubes for fast heating. The article describes the control system with the heating installation, the problems that have been encountered, its solution and some experimental results from a test rig.
