THE AUTHOR EXPLAINS THE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDWHEN DESIGNING DIRECT DIGITAL CONTROL FOR AN AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE MAIN DIFFICULTIES LIE IN THE CHOICE OF INTERFACE AND ITS REACTION ON THE CONTROL ALGORITHM. THE MATHEMATICAL EQUATION IS SHOWN FOR PROPORTIONAL, INTEGRAL AND DERIVATIVE CONTROL, AND THIS IS TRANSLATED INTO DIGITAL FORM. THE TWO USUAL CASES OF PNEUMATIC AND ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATION FOR VALVES AND DAMPERS ARE TAKEN, AND THE CONVERTERS AND INTERFACES ARE DESCRIBED WHICH CAN TAKE AN INPUT SIGNAL AND PRODUCE FROM IT THE FINAL OUTU ER.
