Displacement ventilation and cooled ceilings, results of laboratory tests and practical installations.

Author(s) : FITZNER K.

Summary

Describes the two different types of displacement flow and provides a short survey of displacement flow and its advantages. Compares the range of application with that of mixed flow. Notes that a decisive factor for the application of mixed flow and also for chilled ceilings is the cooling load. Vertical profiles of contamination in a displacement flow are also strongly influenced by the cooling capacity of a chilled ceiling. On the basis of laboratory tests and the performance of actual installations, provides assumptions for the horizontal and vertical temperature profile and the acceleration of the air velocity in front of an outlet which facilitate the design of the system.
