DYNAMIC CONTROL: A NEW APPROACH.

Author(s) : HARTMAN T.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE USE OF MICROPROCESSORS AND DIRECT DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEMS ALLOWS A MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT APPROACH TO BE MADE TO AIR CONDITIONING AND BUILDING HEATING CONTROL SYSTEMS, WHICH WILL ALSO PRODUCE MORE COMFORTABLE INTERNAL ENVIRONMENTS. THE ADVANTAGE OF THE MICROPROCESSOR IS THAT MANY MORE FACTORS MAY BE USED TO PRODUCE A CONTROL SIGNAL. NOT ONLY MORE SENSED INPUTS, BUT MORE EFFECTIVE ALGORITHMS MAY BE INCORPORATED TO PRODUCE A DYNAMIC RATHER THAN A CONTINUALLY RESET STEADY STATE CONTROL. THIS ARTICLE IS THE FIRST IN A SERIES AND EXPLAINS THE CONCEPTS OF DYNAMIC CONTROL. FUTURE ARTICLES WILL EXPLAIN DETAILS AND INCLUDE EXAMPLES. D.W.H.
