Summary
For the past 14 years, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN TC 88) has been preparing a series of standards on thermal insulation, in compliance with a decision taken by the European Commission, within the framework of the directive on building materials. This long developmental period shows how complex the problem is. The article presents some of its aspects.
