Summary

AN ALUMINIUM WIRE WOUND SNUGLY AROUND THE TUBE AT A CERTAIN UNIFORM PITCH ACTED AS THE TURBULATOR. REYNOLDS NUMBER VARIED FROM 10,000 TO 30,000. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN HEAT TRANSFER DUE TO THE TURBULATOR, AT THE EXPENSE OF A CERTAIN PRESSURE DROP. IT WAS SEEN THAT FOR A PARTICULAR AUGMENTATION WIRE THERE WAS AN OPTIMUM PITCH AT WHICH HEAT TRANSFER WAS THE MAXIMUM.
