Summary

LOSS REDUCED MOTORS (LRMS), USE A DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY ORIGINALLY INVENTED FOR THE NASA SPACE PROGRAMME. REFRIGERATION ENGINEERS ARE WELL AWARE OF THE INEFFICIENCY OF RUNNING THE COMPRESSOR DRIVE MOTOR AT PART LOAD. IN CENTRAL PLANT THE PROBLEM IS MINIMIZED BY USING SEVERAL MOTORS WITH LOAD SWITCHING TO MATCH THE ACTUAL LOAD REQUIREMENT. IN SMALLER SINGLE COMPRESSOR EQUPETNSI LRMS CAN PROVIDE A SOLUTION AND, MOREOVER, ARE EXTREMELY COST-EFFECTIVE WITH INSTALLATION PAYBACKS WELL WITHIN TWO YEARS.
