Energy costs of sound absorbers in ventilation equipment.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Sound absorption often accounts for over 10 % of the entire capital cost of a machine ; little is known, however, about its energy costs during operation. The authors present a series of equations for figuring the energy costs of sound absorbers. Diagrams of various configurations are presented, along with the basic parameters, both geometric and dimensionless. Equations are also given for figuring the pressure loss in the flow ducts caused by sound absorbers, and the resulting supplementary electricity required. M.C.
