Summary
Following publication of Directive 2002/91/CE on the energy performance of buildings, it seemed in order to review the status of European standardization in this field. Work on CEN/TC 89, "Thermal performance of buildings and building components", initially focused on the setting up of internal markets, is the cornerstone of this standardization and has already provided a set of key tools facilitating application of the new directive. All features of this work are presented, classified according to themes and progress achieved, as well as new orientations arising from the requirements inherent in this directive.
