Summary

THE RESULTS OF TESTS ON HEAT PIPES USED FOR THE SUPPLEMENTARY COOLING OF THE COMPRESSOR OF A HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATOR ARE GIVEN. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR COIL OF THE COMPRESSOR AND THE DIAMETER, THE LENGTH AND THE SURFACE AREA OF THE HEAT PIPE AND THE AMOUNT OF R113 PROVIDED IS SHOWN. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GIVEN FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE FEEDING TUBE IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE UNFAVOURABLE EFFECT OF NON-CONDENSABLE GAS.
