Summary

In this paper, the measures adopted by the member states of the European Union in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are presented. After the The Hague conference, it will be very important to reach an agreement on the international emission trading system. At the same time, EU member states have to implement very tough measures in order to match Kyoto objectives. In this regard, the measures contained in the European climatic change programs are discussed.
