Summary

SINCE THERMAL INSULATION THICKNESS AND PIPE DIAMETERS CAN BE OPTIMIZED INDEPENDENTLY OF THE PRINCIPAL DESIGN PARAMETERS, THE AUTHORS HAVE EVALUATED THE COST OF COLD LOSSES AND PRESSURE DROP USING THE COMPENSATION METHOD. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PRACTICAL METHODS OF COMPENSATING THESE LOSSES SHOULD BE COMPARED AND THAT THE LEAST EXPENSIVE COMPENSATING METHOD SHOULD BE USED TO EVALUATE THESE LOSSES. THE COMPENSATION COST FOR PRESSURE DROP MUST INCLUDE BOTH THE COST OF PUMPING THE REFRIGERANT AND COLD LOSSES DUE TO THE ABSORPTION OF FRICTIONAL HEAT.
