Summary

A 14 T SUPERCONDUCTING SPLIT SOLENOID MAGNET WAS DEVEL-OPED AND TESTED IN KEK. THE MAGNET HAS A HYBRID CONSTRUCTION OF NIOBIUM-TIN AND NIOBIUM-TITANIUM. EXCITATION EXPERIMENTS WERE MADE USING A COMPUTER DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM. A NEW METHOD OF ANALYZING QUENCH DATA IS DISCUSSED IN THIS WORK. THE QUENCH PROPAGATION THROUGH COILS WAS CLARIFIED FROM THE DATA ANALYSIS. THE MAGNET WAS OPERATED UP TO ALMOST 100 % OF CRITICAL ELECTRIC CURRENT OF THE NIOBIUM-TIN CONDUCTOR ON THE LOAD-LINE.
