Summary

FIVE AIR COOLERS FOR WHICH MANUFACTURERS CLAIM SIMILAR PERFORMANCE WERE TESTED ACCORDING TO THE DUTCH STANDARD. THE TEST RESULTS AND THE EFFECT OF THE EFFECTIVE REFRIGERATING CAPACITY ON THE YEARLY ENERGY COSTS OF REFRIGERATING INSTALLATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. A COMPARISON IS MADE BETWEEN AN AIR COOLER EVALUATION BASED ON DRY OPERATING CONDITIONS AND BASED ON FROSTING CONDITIONS. THE QUANTIFICATION OF THE QUALITY OF AN AIR COOLER NORMALLY OPERATING UNDER FROSTING CONDITIONS IS POSSIBLE ONLY WHEN THE EVALUATING STANDARD IS BASED ON THE PERFORMANCE UNDER FROSTING CONDITIONS.
