Experimental investigation of heat transfer in components of a hermetic reciprocating compressor.

Summary

An experimental investigation has been developed to characterize heat transfer in components of a reciprocating compressor adopted for household refrigeration. Measurements were carried out with heat flux sensors and thermocouples and allowed the characterization of local heat transfer in different locations, such as the compressor shell and the electrical motor. The results show a great effect of the lubricating oil in the heat transfer process at the upper region of the compressor shell where the oil forms an impinging jet.
