Summary

Dehumidification is a very important issue in daily life and industry. Thermoelectric dehumidification has developed as a new type of technology. However, thermoelectric refrigerator’s capability to be used as a domestic dehumidifier has not been verified. In this paper, a typical single-stage thermoelectric dehumidification system is built by using a thermoelectric refrigerator, and the factors which affect the thermoelectric dehumidification capacity and efficiency, such as input voltage and supply air flow rate, are analyzed. To build a comfortable PMV environment, states of supply air are monitored and controlled. In addition, by optimizing operation parameters, the performance of this thermoelectric dehumidifier is optimally improved. The results from the tests carried out for different conditions showed that the performance of this dehumidification system under the optimum condition can be considered as an attractive household dehumidifier.
