Falling liquid films in absorption machines.
Author(s) : FUJITA T.
Type of article: Article, IJR article
Summary
All of the absorption machines consist fundamentally of four kinds of heat exchangers: evaporator, absorber, generator, and condenser. Horizontal or vertical types of falling film heat exchangers are usually employed, since the pressure drop which causes an undesirable change in the fluid temperature is relatively small. The horizontal type is popular at present, while the vertical type is being developed promisingly. The purpose of the paper is to survey the literature giving information on heat and mass transfer enhancement in the heat exchangers of absorption machines. Emphasis is placed on the hydrodynamic characteristics of falling liquid films in absorbers and generators.
