Fans: acoustic aspects. Noise generation and abatement.

Acoustique des ventilateurs. Génération du bruit et moyens de réduction.

Author(s) : GUEDEL A.

Type of monograph: Book

Summary

Fans are used in many fields and regulations covering fan-generated noise are increasingly stringent. This book provides an insight into knowledge of acoustics, promoting understanding of the physical mechanisms causing noise, measurement methods, predictive tools and means of achieving noise abatement and analysis of the impact of fans in a circuit. The book is based on results obtained in studies on various types of fans, and on installation effects, performed by CETIAT (Centre Technique des Industries Aérauliques et Thermiques) since the early 1990s. Extract from the table of contents: 1. Fan-generated noise (types of fans, aeraulic characteristics, background information on fan-generated noise, parameters governing impact, modelling and means of achieving noise abatement); 2. Acoustic installation effects (definitions and examples, aerodynamic and acoustic effects).
