FREEZER FRACTURE CRYOGENICS AND THE LIFE SCIENCES.
Author(s) : GRAHAM W. F., SOHM E. K.
Type of article: Article
Summary
IN FREEZE FRACTURE FOR ELECTRON MICROSCOPY, FROZEN SAMPLES AT -150 DEG C ARE BROKEN OPEN IN HIGH VACUUM (0.0001 PASCAL) AND THE NEWLY EXPOSED SURFACES ARE REPLICATED BY EVAPORATION OF THIN METAL FILMS. THE REPLICATED SPECIMEN CAN BE MOUNTED IN SUPPORT GRIDS AND EXAMINED BY TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY. G.R.S.
