Summary

Jet flow phenomena are not only interesting but are also very important research subjects in the field of fluid dynamics and engineering because they have the essences of fluid dynamics, such as free and wall bounded shear flows, turbulent flow, eddy and large vortex structures and their stability and control, and are used widely in the various fields of industry. In this article, the fundamentals of jet flow phenomena, such as free jet, wall jet and impinging jet flows, are shown. For the velocity distribution of free jet flow a simple theoretical explanation is given. Moreover, resonance free jet flow as one example of passive flow control and heat transfer of impinging jet flow are also shown.
