Summary

Gas turbine based power systems are increasingly utilized due to their high thermal efficiency and superior operability. However, the power output of such systems is increased by ambient temperatures and lower air density, so that they are unable to meet peak demand during hot days in summer. Hence, a system is under design that aims to increase power output by cooling the gas turbine inlet air via a chilling medium. The article outlines 3 types of inlet air cooling: water spray, dynamic ice storage and liquid air spray.
