THE PAPER PROPOSES A MATHEMATICAL FORMULATION FOR THE LAW THAT DEFINES THE VARIATION OF THE SWEPT VOLUME AS A FUNCTION OF THE ROTATION ANGLE, FOR DOUBLE HELICAL ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSORS. IT APPEARS FROM THIS ANALYSIS THAT A LIMIT VALUE EXISTS FOR THE RATIO OF ROTOR LENGTH TO SCREW PITCH, BEYOND WHICH THE SWEPT VOLUME DOES NOT INCREASE ANY FURTHER. E. F.
