Summary
Motor drives for heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning applications, such as automation of services and management of building services are dealt with in this article. Fans and pumps are frequently oversized and a drive improves the efficiency of a motor, with a potential for saving energy; reducing wear on other components will lead to lower maintenance costs, and will also reduce acoustic noise. Different requirements for industrial and HVAC drives are presented.
