Summary
The UK market for total building service maintenance was GBP 7.3 billion in 2002, a figure that is set to grow. This is expected to rise to GBP 2 295 in 2003. Ad hoc work was valued at GBP 2 205 million, providing total contractors values of GBP 4 209 million. To this, a further GBP 3 133 million should be added to include basic m & e work undertaken in-house, by direct labour organisations or by contractors outside the remit of this article. The ad hoc figure has risen from GBP 1 079 million in 1999 at a compound annual growth rate of 26.9%. The term contract CAGR was 11%.
