Summary

With new designs of heat exchangers in heat compressor (regenerators) heat and mass transfer can be considerably more efficient. One possible design is a heat compressor with a compact layer of adsorbent. The paper presents a mathematical model of heat and mass transfer into a compact homogenous layer located on the heat exchanger tube in the compressor of an adsorption cooling device. Operation of the cooling device is described and results of simulation for a case concerning several parallel tubes in a heat compressor are analyzed. COP values are analyzed with regard to tube numbers and layer thickness. It was established that the intensity of the process which takes place in the heat processor is influenced to a considerable extent by the type of material from which the compact layer is made and less by the layer's structure.
