Summary

The possible sensible and total heat recovery in a ventilating system depends on the climate and on the operating period. Total recovery is limited in winter by the humidity of the supply air: this lowers the exchange capacity in the heating season. A first analysis is proposed for three different climates (Milano, Roma, Palermo), evaluating specific heat recovery, i.e. the recovery for unitary ventilation air flow rate and the economical savings, taking into account even the reduction in the heating and cooling capacity. A heat recovery in a ventilating system must always be evaluated, since the investment is often profitable.
