Summary

This work gives the results of an experimental study about "dry" spots, their development conditions, evolution dynamics, critical heat fluxes, and heat transfer in a liquid nitrogen film, flowing vertically down a heated sheet. Experimental data were obtained for the in-flowing liquid film with Reynolds numbers in a range from 10 to 2000 at the saturation line. Zones of liquid flows with different mechanisms of the local "dry" spot origin, and with the start of a heat transfer crisis, were separated by defined boundaries.
