Summary

Superconducting transformers have a leading edge compared with existing electric-current transformers, since they have higher performances and are lighter. The Ready Project described here is aimed at developing a new-generation tape superconductor that will be used for the secondary winding of a small transformer, the primary winding comprising a superconducting wire that is already available. Within this framework, it is simpler that the magnetic circuit, indispensable in current transformation, is used in a cold environment such as with superconductors.
