Summary

THE PROGRESS IN THE MANUFACTURE OF HOUSEHOLD FREEZERS, CHEST FREEZERS, UPRIGHT FREEZERS AND DUAL TEMPERATURE REFRIGERATORS, IS REVIEWED. IT MAINLY CONCERNS ENERGY SAVINGS. UPRIGHT FREEZERS AND DUAL TEMPERATURE REFRIGERATORS ARE INCREASINGLY EQUIPPED WITH AN EXTERNALLY VENTILATED EVAPORATOR, THE ADVANTAGES OF WHICH ARE LISTED. INSULATION THICKNESSES ARE INCREASING, MAINLY FOR CHESTS. UPRIGHT FREEZERS ARE OFTEN EQUIPPED WITH TRANSPARENT DRAWERS AND SOMETIMES WITH COLD ACCUMULATORS. DUAL TEMPERATURE REFRIGERATORS ARE GENERALLY COOLED BY A SINGLE COMPRESSOR, THUS INCREASING ELECTRIC POWER CONSUMPTION. THE COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTION OF HOUSEHOLD FREEZERS IS OUTLINED. J.L.
