HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATION EFFICIENCY.

Author(s) : NORGARD J. S., LLOYD C. R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHORS SUGGEST THAT EXPERIMENTS CARRIED OUT ON DOMESTIC REFRIGERATORS IN DENMARK COULD BE OF EVEN GREATER VALUE APPLIED TO FIJI. THEY SUGGEST THAT AN INCREASE TO ABOUT DOUBLE THE INSULATION THICKNESS, IMPROVEMENTS IN COMPRESSOR AND MOTOR DESIGN, A LARGER EVAPORATOR AND BETTER DESIGN OF CONDENSER COULD DECREASE ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION TO ABOUT A QUARTER THAT USED AT PRESENT. IN A HIGH AMBIENT LOCALITY WITH HIGHE HN EUROPEAN POWER COSTS,IT FOLLOWS THAT A SMALL INCREASE IN MANUFACTURING COST WOULD SOON BE PAID FOR. D.W.H.
