HUMIDITY CONTROLLED VENTILATION.

Author(s) : BAETS F. A.

Summary

THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE METHOD OF VENTILATION BASED ON VARYING AIR FLOWS IN EACH ROOM OF A DWELLING ACCORDING TO THE HUMIDITY LEVEL OF EACH ROOM. THIS METHOD HAS BEEN ADOPTED IN PUBLIC HOUSING PROJECTS IN FRANCE, FOLLOWING A SERIES OF CHANGES TO THE VENTILATION AND HEATING CODE. IT PROVIDES DIRECT CONTROL OF CONDENSATION. WITHOUT ANY HUMAN INTERVENTION, IT AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTS THE VENTILATION RATE ACCOUNTING FOR THE NUMBER AND LOCATION OF OCCUPANTS, HOURS OF OCCUPANCY, ACTIVITY LEVEL, THE EFFECT OF AIR INFILTRATION, OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY. THE ADVANTAGES ARE: AVOIDING CONDENSATION, ENERGY SAVING AND REDUCED PEAK HEATING DEMAND.
