Type of article: Article
Summary
An active-buffer pulse tube refrigerator, which is a Gifford-McMahon type pulse tube refrigerator, is described. Two or more buffers are connected at the hot end of the pulse tube through on/off valves. A numerical method is introduced to analyse the working process. With a prototype single-stage active-buffer pulse tube refrigerator, a cooling capacity of 166 W and a percent Carnot of 13% at 80 K have been obtained.
