Summary

A REPORT ON EXPERIENCES GAINED FROM VARIOUS TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE TREATMENT OF CEREBRAL TUMOURS, METHODS OF APPLYING LOCAL HYPOTHERMIA AND THE RESULTS OF SURGERY. THE MAIN ADVANTAGES ARE THE POSSIBILITY OF THE BLOCK ENUCLEATION OF THE MASS WITH LIMITED SIDE EFFECTS AND REDUCED BLOODLOSS. HEMOSTASIS CAN BE IMPROVED FURTHER BY USING A CO2 LASER TO DISSECT THE BORDERS OF THE TUMOUR. TELETHERMOCOAGULATION IS A SAFE HYPERTHERMIC TECHNIQUE AND IT WAS USED IN 20 CASES OF CEREBRAL TUMOURS.
