REPORTS BRIEFLY THAT MEDICAL AIR TECHNOLOGY HAVE INTRODUCED A UNIQUE SELF-CONTAINED ULTRACLEAN AIR SYSTEM FOR INSTALLATION IN OPERATING THEATRES. THIS SYSTEM IS THE FIRST AND ONLY SUCH SYSTEM WHICH MEETS THE STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS OF THE NEW DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY SPECIFICATIONS ON ULTRACLEAN AIR SYSTEMS. THE SPECIFICATION HAS TWO MAIN REQUIREMENTS: THE SYSTEM MUST HAVE AN AVERAGE DOWNFLOW VELOCITY OF AIR OF 0.38 M PER SECOND OVER THE ENTIRE CLEAN ZONE AND THIS MUST BE ACHIEVED AT NOISE LEVELS NOT EXCEEDING 55 DECIBELS A.
