Type of article: Article
Summary
LOW-FREQUENCY INTERNAL FRICTION IN ARGON HAS BEEN STUDIED EXPERIMENTALLY AT LOW TEMPERATURES UP TO 4.2 K. A MAXIMUM OF LOW-FREQUENCY INTERNAL FRICTION HAS BEEN FOUND AT 24 K, WHERE ACCORDING TO THE DATA ON STRESS RELAXATION AND UNIAXIAL ACTIVE TENSION ARGON IS CHARACTERIZED BY PLASTIC DEFORMATION OF THE PEIERLS TYPE AND BY BRITTLE FAILURE.
