Summary

The pair-breaking effect caused by magnetic scattering makes a strong impact on the properties of cuprates. The study of magnetic properties allows one to introduce a new parameter, the intrinsic critical temperature which is the upper limit of critical temperature, i.e. 160-170 K in these materials. In addition, the presence of magnetic impurities leads to the unconventional isotope effect observed experimentally.
