Summary
The industrial gas industry produces and delivers a wide variety of gases, equipment and systems and related services to millions of customers around the world. These customers use gases and related services in a myriad of ways - from fabricating metals to making images materialize on an MRI. The range and variety of these applications makes the supply of these gases very complex from a business standpoint. Over the years, gas companies have focused on the high-volume delivery channels (pipeline, on-site and bulk), while in markets where alternative channels are present (the US, Japan, etc.), distributors (including Airgas) have taken on delivery of packaged gases.
