Modeling of thermoacoustic generator in TCCbuilder.

Summary

Thermoacoustic generators are innovative technology that can efficiently convert heat to electricity via thermoacoustic effects. Currently, there exist numerous modeling approaches that can provide description of different operational conditions of thermoacoustic generators. In this paper, we present a new way of modeling refrigerators, heat pumps, and power generators of different technologies, including thermoacoustics. TCCbuilder, a computational tool for analysis of thermal control circuits, was upgraded and thermoacoustic generator was added among other components as an independent module that behaves as a low-dimensional, reduced-order model. The proposed approach to modeling enables fast and comparative analysis and optimization of different refrigerators, heat pumps, and power generators, and their combinations without the need of performing computationally intensive simulations. Model was also verified with an example from the literature and that device was implemented to the framework.
